Providence specialises in delivery within complex, regulated and high assurance environments. For more than 20 years, we have supported Defence, government, industry and universities where clear judgement, disciplined governance and delivery under scrutiny matter.

Our delivery approach is designed to reduce risk and scale with need:

This ability to move seamlessly from individual support to coordinated team delivery is central to how Providence minimises mobilisation risk and avoids unnecessary overhead.

Whether providing short term specialist expertise or longer-term blended workforce arrangements, Providence integrates quickly, works within existing governance frameworks and focuses on outcomes that endure beyond the engagement.

OUR
SERVICES

Providence provides deep expertise across program and product management, applying established methodologies to manage cost, schedule, risk and opportunity. Our teams support everything from single initiatives to complex portfolios.
A key outcome of our work is the buildup of internal capability. Through structured utilisation, prioritisation and upskilling, we help organisations sustain strong program management practices beyond transition.

Providence is building a strong engineering capability through both internal expertise and partnerships with specialist firms. This includes support to space, land, communications and maritime systems across Defence and utilities sectors.
Our model allows us to assemble integrated work packages that combine consulting rigour with deep technical expertise to deliver complex outcomes at scale.

Our commercial and procurement specialists provide strategic advice and practical support across the full procurement lifecycle. This includes advice on procurement approaches, contracting strategies, risk and performance assessment, tender development and evaluation.
Our teams have hands-on experience working with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act. We focus on compliance, value for money and decision-making that stands up to review.

Providence helps organisations improve logistics and supply chains in complex, interconnected environments. We provide strategic, technical and analytical support to strengthen flow, security, integration and resilience.
We are ISO 44001 accredited, which supports a more collaborative way of working with partners. In practice, this means better end-to-end visibility, smoother hand-offs and earlier identification of supply-chain risks.

For more than 20 years, Providence has helped organisations to lift performance through continuous improvement, quality management and performance systems. Our collaborative approach focuses on enabling individuals and teams to work effectively within high performing environments.

Projects that we have worked on

SEA 5000 Hunter Class Frigate Program - Project Scheduling and Controls

Defence engaged Providence to provide specialist scheduling and project controls support to the SEA 5000 Hunter Class Frigate Program, one of its largest and most complex naval acquisition programs. Providence embedded schedulers and project controls specialists to develop and maintain integrated master schedules, conduct scenario analysis, and assure contractor schedule submissions. This work strengthened schedule governance and transparency, enabling earlier identification of risks and dependencies and supporting more informed decision‑making. Providence also uplifted internal capability through mentoring, improving long‑term schedule confidence and delivery assurance across the program.

ANZAC Class SPO - Engineering Assurance and Sustainment Transition

Defence engaged Providence to support engineering governance and sustainment transition activities within the ANZAC Class System Program Office. Providence provided technical assurance, lifecycle planning and coordination to support fleet transition and ongoing capability delivery. This work supported successful lifecycle extension of the ANZAC fleet, improved readiness and sustainment outcomes, and ensured coordinated delivery across Defence and industry stakeholders.

Space Systems Branch - Engineering Governance and Assurance

Defence engaged Providence to provide embedded engineering and technical assurance support to sovereign space capability programs. Providence deployed multidisciplinary engineering teams to oversee governance, review contractor deliverables, and ensure alignment with Defence standards and interoperability requirements. Providence established structured engineering governance frameworks, improving visibility and control of technical activities across the project lifecycle. This strengthened compliance, enhanced quality of engineering outputs, and supported more informed, defensible decision‑making for complex acquisition programs.

Utilisation, Prioritisation and Skilling Initiative

Through the Team Downer Major Service Provider arrangement, Providence delivers Integrated Work Package services across Defence programs, supporting complex capability outcomes under an outcomes‑based contracting model. To optimise delivery, Providence facilitated Utilisation, Prioritisation and Skilling (UPS) workshops, enabling stakeholders to test and refine delivery assumptions across workforce capability, service definitions, risk sharing and prioritisation of effort. These workshops identified targeted improvement initiatives, including enhanced knowledge transfer, clearer definition of services and accountabilities, and improved alignment of work packages to Defence priorities. The approach strengthened workforce capability, supported more effective outcomes‑based contracting, and enabled more efficient and coordinated delivery of capability under the IWP model.

Defence Science and Technology Group - PM and Commerical

The Defence Science and Technology Group engaged Providence to provide embedded program management, project support and commercial services across multiple programs, including maritime, aerospace and science and technology initiatives. Providence deployed multidisciplinary teams across national locations to support planning, governance, procurement and delivery activities. Providence strengthened program governance, reporting and commercial discipline, improving visibility of performance, risk and financial management. The embedded model enabled DSTG to maintain delivery momentum while reducing administrative burden on researchers, supporting more effective and sustainable program management capability.

Defence Intelligence Group - Governance Frameworks

Defence engaged Providence to provide embedded project management and governance support to the Full Spectrum Targeting capability uplift program. Providence supported delivery planning, scheduling, and coordination across multiple interdependent workstreams, alongside development of governance artefacts and executive reporting. This work improved coordination across complex capability streams, strengthened governance and reporting, and enabled more structured and transparent decision‑making in a high‑assurance environment.

Force Exploration Branch - Strategic Mobilisation

Providence provides a dedicated Program Management Office to the Force Exploration Branch within the Vice Chief of the Defence Force Group, supporting the design and delivery of the Defence Strategic Mobilisation Plan. Providence’s embedded team oversees the coordination of more than 400 mobilisation work packages, working across Defence and with other government agencies to inform national preparedness for crisis, war, and disaster. Providence established governance, performance and delivery structures, enabling the development of a costed, actionable mobilisation plan aligned to evolving Defence priorities. This work strengthened enterprise coordination, improved visibility of mobilisation activities, and supported more informed decision‑making at a national level, enhancing Defence’s overall readiness and resilience.

Maritime Integrated Warfare Systems - Project Management

Since 2022, Providence has supported the Maritime Integrated Warfare Systems (MIWS) Branch within the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group to deliver high‑priority Royal Australian Navy capability, including multiple ACAT I and II programs. Providence deployed an integrated workforce across program and project functions, providing leadership and specialist support in areas such as program management, commercial, engineering, logistics and test and evaluation. Operating under the Defence DSS and MSP Panel, Providence’s matrixed workforce enabled outcomes‑based delivery across complex, interdependent projects. This approach strengthened coordination, improved delivery alignment to Defence priorities, and supported the effective execution of critical surface fleet capability programs.

CASG Land Command Systems - Engineering Assurance and Project Delivery

CASG engaged Providence to provide engineering leadership and project delivery support to the LAND 200-2 Battlefield Command System project. Providence personnel operated in key roles including Engineering Manager, Senior Engineer and Project Scheduler, supporting delivery under complex technical and commercial conditions. Providence strengthened engineering governance and assurance, supporting technical reviews, stakeholder coordination and delivery planning. This work enabled Defence to resolve complex delivery challenges, maintain schedule and cost alignment, and progress capability outcomes through to acceptance.
