Specialist PMO Services

Case Studies

Science PMO support

Working with DSTG Maritime and Air over the last decade, we have developed deep expertise in science and research-based project management and support.

We have a unique understanding of the research process and have built a reputation for collaboration and communication with the research and development teams we embed with.

Our experience in supporting scientists and technology (S&T) researchers, creates the support those professional need so that they can remain focused on the delivery of their research objectives.

Workforce optimisation

CSIRO wanted to move their scientific and research workforce to activity based working, altering the use of space in their Black Mountain facility.

Members of our team undertook interviews with staff, did a workflow management study, a space utilisation study, and observed actual interactions and behaviour in the existing space.

The specialist advice created an optimal use of space, workplace design, inclusion of those most affected by the change and a clear  for working with the R&D staff to enable the change.

The architect and client fully adopted the  recommendations to optimise the facility.

Organisation wide new LMS

Comcare moved from an older Learning Management System (LMS) to a new, web based LMS. The project was in flight and experiencing project delivery issues and internal and external tensions.

Our team conducted a gap analysis, taking a strategic leadership and culture transformation view. One-on-one coaching and a communication plan re-engaged and aligned the project team, key stakeholders and the provider to the desired benefits and outcomes.

The “what you see is what you get” principle was applied and change communication and short and targeted learning modules were authored and provided via the new LMS. This led to a smooth transition and very high uptake.

Reducing risk through research

Providence undertook military research on behalf of the Veteran’s Review Board (VRB) to assess the likelihood that deceased veterans would have been exposed to a variety of adverse situations. If this proved to be the case, to also uncover the nature and extent of any exposure.

The team accessed open sources, including the Naval Historical Society – Australia, the Australian War Memorial (AWM), and the National Library of Australia (NLA).

Our team produced reports that provided sufficient context of a veteran’s service and the nature of his/her employment so that the VRB could make a fair and equitable decision. This evidence based decision satisfied the claimant, irrespective of the outcome.
