Providence provides specialist project, commercial, engineering and logistic skills into the 130-strong Team Downer IWP supporting the update and upgrade of the Royal Australian Navy’s Surface Fleet Warfare capability and supporting systems.
To best meet Defence requirements, the MIWS IWP is serviced under a matrixed workforce structure with roles integrated across project and product business units, with accountabilities defined through an outcomes-based contracting (OBC) and “as-a-service” style engagement mechanism.
This arrangement enables focus and value to be derived by Defence across the complex array of projects and programs that make up this program of work.
MIWS represents one of seven IWPs delivered by Providence teams on the journey towards true Outcomes Based Contracting that delivers value for money best for Defence teaming options.
One of the largest IWP currently operating across all four MSP, the LC4S IWP delivers technologically advanced, networked, and integrated systems to Army to ensure a connected, protected, and lethal land component within a future integrated, focused force.
Providence provides a broad range of partner capabilities into the IWP including PM, systems engineering, ILS, and programmatic controls incl. commercial, scheduling and finance.
With the evolution in C4ISR architectures and systems keeping pace with innovation and rapid changes in technology requires the integrated contingent workforce to remain agile to respond to this dynamic and ensure that Package Utilisation, Prioritisation and Skilling continues to meet Army’s requirements.
This exciting venture commenced in 2024 with Providence providing specialist communications, systems and space related engineering expertise with our other PM, ILS and project controls skills to support the ADF’s current and future military satellite communications capability consisting of space, ground, control and terminal assets.
The Space Systems IWP is part of Australia’s effort to enhance its space capabilities through life and provides an incredible opportunity for the Providence team to partner with some of Australia’s brightest minds and advanced technologies.
The SSB IWP represents a significant strategic partnership between the Commonwealth and Team Downer and its dynamic network of over 400 Small to Medium Enterprises, ready to enable this leading-edge set of capabilities across the next decade.
Providence is proud to support the delivery of Naval maritime capability through life as part of the Team Downer Maritime Systems Division (MSD) IWP. This work comes at an exciting time for Navy as it undergoes a step-change acquiring next generation capability and upgrades across the Fleet, as well as the transformation of maritime sustainment under Plan Galileo.
A major focus for the MSD IWP under Plan Galileo is to create a national integrated sustainment environment across four strategic Regional Maintenance Centres based in Sydney, Cairns, Darwin and Henderson in Western Australia.
This complex transformation requires industry partners able to share and cost risk underpinned by collaborative methodologies that enable true value creation in-flight.
The MSD IWP is one of the most complex of any across the MSP, as it sits ‘alongside’ the naval platforms it serves requiring clear accountabilities, deliverables and sub-outcomes to be set from the outset to keep clear lines between above the line ‘white collar’ services the IWP supports with the ‘blue collar’ services provided by Defence Primes that keep the ships and supporting systems seaworthy.
The IWP provides Navy with the outcomes-based environment its needs to identify and realise benefits in terms of service agility and flexibility, reduced administrative effort, improved reporting and value for money.
