Following a 2009 security incident at a major Defence site, Providence was engaged to help implement the Defence Support Group’s Base Security Improvement Program (BSIP). A team of 11 consultants, conducted security risk assessments across 60 Defence sites and developed a range of tailored security treatments.

These treatments included physical and electronic measures, training, cultural adjustments, and improved planning. Providence worked closely with stakeholders to cost the solutions and revised the planning approach for future use. The team also developed the functional requirements for the security measures and prepared the specifications for procurement.

Providence’s work culminated in the development of an Acquisition Strategy for the Base Infrastructure Works Program, enabling its successful delivery by Defence.

In 2011, Brigadier Peter Short awarded a member of Providence a recognition award for establishing the BSIP Directorate, acknowledging the significant impact of the project.
